December 24-25, 2012 ~ Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

December 24-25, 2012 ~ Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Our first Christmas together was a success. We were able to spend Christmas Eve at the Tielemans house and then Christmas day at the Hoer's house. It worked out well because the Tielemans always have a big get together for Christmas Eve and the Hoers always have a big get together for Christmas day. For Christmas Eve we had a really nice dinner prepared by Sally. She set the table all fancy also, so I just had to get a picture. Lucas had fun playing with his new iPhone 5 and taking some cool pictures. Lucas didn't have a smart phone or anything. His phone could only txt and call and he was due for an upgrade and therefore we talked and decided to spend the money and get him the newest iPhone. He knew he was going to get it for Christmas but I managed to surprise him still. I went with Tony a week before Christmas to resign Lucas's contract with AT&T and get him a new phone. While getting the phone, since he hadn't had a smart phone previously, he needed to get a new sim card. Since he needed to get a new sim card I had the option of buying the phone and then coming back later to activate it or to active the new phone now which would deactivate his current phone. I decided to deactivate his current phone since he was at work and could use his work phone if he needed to get a hold of me. Sure enough, while at work he called me from his work phone and said his cell phone stopped working. On his new iPhone I set his ringtone as "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. I then wrapped the phone and put it under the Christmas tree. When he came home we talked about how his phone stopped working and I said well lets call your phone once more before we just throw away your phone and get your new phone tomorrow. When he called his phone the present under the Christmas tree started ringing and he was so surprised. I am glad I still was able to surprise him even though he knew he was getting a new phone for Christmas. Lucas did a really good job at picking cute cloths out for me. I got everything I wanted and anything I could ask for this Christmas. I am just so lucky to have such a loving, caring, handsome, eternal companion. I am blessed to have such supportive, loving family members and a knowledge of the true church of Jesus Christ.

After our mini photoshoot in front of the Christmas tree we played "Minute to Win It" Christmas games. I was in charge of the games and was a little nervous but it turned out well.

For Christmas morning I made scones for Lucas and I for breakfast. We had the scones with jam, powdered sugar, honey, or cinnamon.

This is what the Christmas tree looked like after "Santa" came. The Hoer family tradition was to race down the stairs to see the Christmas presents laid out by our stockings. The Tielemans family tradition was to have everything wrapped and under the tree and from  there the presents were distributed on Christmas morning. Lucas said unwrapping presents was so much more fun then coming down and seeing everything at once and therefore we wrapped all of our presents for our first Christmas together. I said that we can take on his family tradition of wrapping all of the presents if he wraps all of them when we have kids. I also said that we have to race down the stairs, which is my family tradition. Growing up we would line up at the top of the stairs and race down. My dad would have the youngest in his arms, until he couldn't hold both twins, and then he would pull his annual trick and beat everyone down the stairs. His "trick" was that in the middle of counting to 3 he would say, "wait is that Rudolf" and point or say something along those lines and start running down the stairs.

After we had breakfast and unwrapped our presents we got ready and headed to the Tielemans house to unwrap our present from Tony and Sally. I just happened to snap this picture of Lucas and Tony. This is a true depiction of "Father Like Son"

After we unwrapped our presents at the Tielemans house we headed over to the Hoer's household for the annual Christmas feast and talent show. We also had a mini photo shoot in front of the Christmas tree.

The annual Christmas party talent show. Lucas was playing with his new phone and taking pictures. As mentioned earlier he got the iPhone 5 for Christmas, the newest iPhone.

Lucas and I cut down our own Christmas tree in Alamo! It is a small little tree but it fits perfectly in our small little apartment. The pictures to follow are us decorating our first Christmas tree for our first Christmas!
