On October 29th we all arrived at Puerto. I arrived a little before Mom, Dad, Luc and Jac so I ran some errands with Chelsea and little baby Kloee until everyone else arrived. We had lunch at Taco Maker and I had the best deep fried burrito ever! It is probably the unhealthiest thing in the world, a burrito that is deep fried but it was amazing! We went to Ikea where Chelsea picked up a rug she ordered and we chilled on a couch in the middle of Ikea while Chelsea breastfeed Kloee (she was covered of course) because Kloee was hungry and wasn't going to wait. That in the night when the rest of the family showed up Kloee was the center of attention right away (I was lucky I got her to myself for the afternoon). I couldn't help but take a picture of the family flocked around the carseat. For dinner we went out as a family and it was nice just visiting and being with Bryce and Chelsea.
Milk Drunk Kloee
Jac was in love at first sight...Luc on the other hand didn't know what to expect.
First time dad got to see his FIRST grand baby. They are proud grandparents thats for sure!
Luc warmed up to her though...
On October 30th our adventured of Puerto Rico began...but first we had to workout. Dad, Jac and I woke up before everyone else and went to the nice workout room to workout. Nothing beats working out with a view of the jungle. We got a late start, naturally, and we ended up eating lunch before even getting to a beach. We ate lunch at a nice cafe style place called El Carey Cafe. We had some puerto rican food there that was pretty much a chicken, bean and rice bowl with vegetables but it was really good! During lunch Kloee was sitting in her carseat at the end of the table while everyone was eating and mom accidentally spilled a full cup of ice water on her. Mom picked her up to dry her off and calm her down and then Kloee's diaper exploded and got poop on Moms shorts. It was almost like Kloee was getting revenge on mom for spilling freezing water on her. It was pretty funny and everyone had a good laugh...except mom. We went to a beach near the cafe but we didn't stay long because we wanted to go to a surf beach and then a waterfall. The surf beach we went to was called Playa Jobos. The waterfall was called Gozalandia. I wish we would have had more time at the waterfall because it was beautiful and you could climb up the waterfall and jump off! There was also a rope swing with a smaller waterfall in the same location. It started to get dark while we were at the waterfall so we didn't have much time there.
On October 31 we partied hard...literally...we had a party...a Halloween party! We went to San Juan for the day and went Jet skiing in the morning then to a surf beach by the Ritz Carleton in the afternoon. Mom and dad were troopers and watched little Kloee while the kids went jet skiing. Jet skiing was amazing, Jet skiing on an ocean is ten times better than on a lake! We went jet skiing in a tour group and we unfortunately had really slow people in our tour. At times we were just sitting and doing donuts waiting for the slow people to catch up. Our tour guide made it fun though and we ended up not minding because doing donuts over huge waves is amazing! After jet skiing we went to Denny's in one of the hotels in San Juan. After lunch we went to a surf beach by the Ritz Carleton and the waves were good but it start to rain. We also had to go shopping and clean the apartment for the Halloween party so we couldn't really surf long anyway. I didn't go surfing cause surfing in the rain when you only have about 45 minutes to surf doesn't sounds very fun. When we got to the apartment we all showered and started setting up for the party. We all coordinated halloween costumes and had a nautical theme. Kloee was a crab, Chelsea was a mermaid, Bryce was a sailer or fisherman, the twins and dad were shark bite victims and mom and I were supposed to be swimmers. Someone was supposed to be a shark (I think it was Jac) but he ended up not being a shark so I in turn became the shark. I wasn't sure how a halloween party would go with a bunch of people I don't know but it ended up being really fun. Bryce and Chelsea have some fun friends!
On November 1st we woke up and went to Bryce and Chelsea's church for church. It was fast and testimony meeting in Spanish so we didn't understand much of anything but you could still feel the spirit. Bryce actually got up to share his testimony (mom got excited because she thought she would finally be able to understand something but he bore his testimony in Spanish) but it was neat hearing his testimony even if it was in Spanish. He bore his testimony about family and christ (there was more to it then that but that's what I understood). After church we got ready to head to Culebra Island . We spent the night on Culebra island. The fairy ride over to Culebra is infamous for being very bouncy due to the current of the ocean so Bryce got Dramamine at a pharmacy at the dock before we left. The pharmacy was way sketchy though. Bryce came back from the pharmacy with a napkin that had pills in it, they didn't give us the pill bottle but just poured pills out of the bottle into a napkin. We thought it was interesting but didn't think much of it until dinner time. We all passed out on the fairy ride and no one got sick (thankfully). After the fairy ride we took a less then 10 minute $30 taxi ride to Melonas beach. Melonas beach was supposively know for it's beautiful sunsets but it was just a rocky beach with sand flees that ate our legs with no mercy. After the less then 10 minute $30 taxi ride back to the resort we decided we were going to rent jeeps for $15 a day, which we found out after our expensive taxi ride to the beach (if you could call it a beach). During dinner everyone was tired and drowsy from the dramamine but we didn't think much of it until we broke a couple glasses. It was a really nice restaurant at the resort we were staying at and we knocked over and broke not just 1 wine glass but 3...yes 3. After the third wine glass we thought something was wrong with everyone and we all went straight to bed. In the morning no one could wake up, not even dad. Everyone got 9-10 hours of sleep...even dad! After remembering how we broke 3 wine glasses at dinner and slept for a solid 10 hours we decided we would never buy dramamine from a dock in Puerto Rico ever again.
After waking up from our deep sleep on November 2nd we went to one of the best white sand beaches in the world! Flamenco beach is rated the 6th best beach in the world and it did not disappoint! The sand was like walking on pillows and it didn't stick to you after getting wet. The water was the bluest and clearest water I have ever seen and it was like bath water, very warm! They also had coral reefs not too far off the shore where you could snorkel and see beautiful fish. After snorkeling and spending some time at Flamenco beach the boys hiked to a different part of the beach to see a botanical garden and Chelsea, Kloee, mom, dad and I went to Tamarindo beach to swim with sea turtles! Tamarindo beach was a little rocky and not as beautiful and just our luck we couldn't find the sea turtles but we still got to snorkel with baby swordfish and stingrays. We then returned the jeeps and headed to the dock to set sail on the fairy home. We didn't take any medication for the fairy ride home but everyone managed to do well and we were able to see a beautiful sunset on the fairy ride back.
November 3rd was the last day of vacation...or at least that is what I thought. In the morning we took the family to the airport and then Bryce, Chelsea and I explored old San Juan until my flight later in the afternoon. It was funny cause mom, dad and the twins and I had the same flight going from Fort Lauderdale to home but they just took an earlier flight out of Puerto Rico. They had a four hour layover in Fort Lauderdale. I rode stand-bye through Jet Blue for $29 round trip and Sam set up the flights for me (I can't really complain it was so cheap) and I flew from Puerto Rico in the afternoon, had an hour layover in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before arriving home. Well, the flight from Puerto Rico was running 20 minutes late and then just my luck the flight from Fort Lauderdale left early so I missed my flight. Dad and mom knew my flight had been delayed so when they announced the flight from fort lauderdale would be leaving early they talked to an attendant to let them know I was on a connecting flight but that didn't stop the airplane. Since it was technically the airlines fault I missed my flight they paid for a room for me ay Days Inn but it still stunk. I did everything I could to make my connecting flight. When I found out my flight was delayed in Puerto Rico I asked for a seat close to the front of the airplane so I could get off the plane quicker and not miss my connecting flight and they gave me a seat on isle one. I admit it was rough when reality hit me that I was flying by myself for the first time and I was now stranded in a city I didn't know. It didn't help that dad wrote me a hand written note saying how they tried to stop the plane and they love me...the note was so thoughtful but it made me feel like a little girl left behind even though I'm 23. There was nothing I could do so I took advantage of a surprise day extension of my vacation. I slept in, ate the free breakfast the hotel provided, worked out and layed by the pool. It was weird doing all of these activities by myself but it was actually really relaxing being able to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.
Those are not chicken pox...those are the stupid sand flee bites
