Since Luke had to work on Saturday and I didn't have work I went with him! It was fun seeing where he works and what his job entails. If I had Luke's job I would either have to gain serious muscle or quit.

January 24, 2016 ~ Jeff and Sam's New Callings
They split the Pinnacle Ward! They created a new ward in the stake in order to make ward sizes smaller and in doing so they took a chunk from our ward. And of course, they happened to take the area of land that has all of our friends and the Giles. Luke and I are very sad! We will miss having the Giles, Millerberg, Hobley and Rigg family in our ward. The new ward is called the Duneville ward. Sam and Carrie will now be in the same ward. Sam got called as the elders quorum president in the new ward and Jeff got called to the Bishopric. Luke is really going to miss seeing Benny Boy every Sunday at church.
January 18, 2016 ~ Rachel's First Day of Work
It is surreal that I am a nurse!! I have officially been a nurse since September 18, 2015 but I waited until a new graduate position for Siena was open. I wanted to start working in November but things didn't go as planned. I applied for a new graduate position for the Cardiology Progressive Unit in September that would start in November but I never got a call. I thought it was interesting that I never got a call, not even a call stating I wouldn't be selected and so I looked at my application. When I attached my transcripts and cover letter it accidentally deleted my resume!! No wonder they didn't call me, I didn't have a resume attached to my application. That little incident was kind of confirmation that I was supposed to apply to the Orthopedic unit job. Not to sound arrogant but I knew that if I applied for the Orthopedic unit job I would be working on the orthopedic unit, so it was a big debate on if I wanted to apply or not. I am now very glad that I applied and am excited to start my adventure as a new nurse. I was nervous for the first day of work (of course) but it was a really good experience. The first day was orientation and the room was filled with new employees experiencing the same feelings as me. In orientation I got to know the goals, motto and history of dignity health a little better and they had team building exercises.
Just an interesting side note. On the second or third day of orientation we went into more detail of nursing as a career and benefits of the job and stuff. Well, apparently cars salesmen are more trusted then congress. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that!

January 15, 2016 ~ Karaoke
I forgot how fun Karaoke is. Shantris and Travis Jensen invited us and some other couples from the ward to Karaoke and at first I was hesitant to go because everyone that was going was older but it was a lot of fun!! Luke picked the song "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies to sing as a couple and it was a success! When it was my turn to pick a song to sing as a couple it was a different story. I have been obsessed with one of Taylor Swifts new songs so I thought it would be fun to sing it with Luke...boy was I wrong! Since it is a newer song the karaoke version of the song only has a bass and I didn't know the song well enough. We ended up rapping the song because I couldn't remember the notes to the song. All the husbands sang Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and all the wives sang a song also (I can't remember which song for the life of me).
January 8, 2016 ~ Last day of OIH
Today was bitter sweet. I am leaving my first and only job
to enter the real world. I will have a real boss (sorry dad, you were a great
boss but lets face it, I am your daughter), and real rules (dad was a great
boss and was lenient and worked around my school schedule). I have come to know and love so many of the
patients that come through the office and I will miss them. Lets face it though;
I will probably see a lot of the patients again in the hospital. Of course at
times we were all annoyed with a certain co-worker (cough cough Sandi) but I
have had a lot of fun with my co-workers and will miss them. Everyone threw me
a going away party and it was a fun last hurray with my co-workers. Today was
the last time I can call A4 my room as an employee.

I didn’t really write about my job interview so I think I
will touch a little on that. I admit, even though I was pretty sure I got the
job (because of my experience and of course Dad/Diana) I was still very very
nervous going into my job interview. It was the first job interview I had ever
been to and it was my career and future at steak. It wasn’t any fast food
restaurant interview; it was an interview for my dream job. I came well prepared with 3 portfolios with
my resume, cover letter, transcripts, reference letters and awards in them. I
lucked out because I had the perfect number of portfolios. Shirley, Calai and
Yvonne were the three that interviewed me. Right off the bat Calai asked how I
knew 3 people would be interviewing me and I said I didn’t know, I just came
with copies of everything just in case. They started off asking me why I wanted
to be a nurse. I got choked up a little talking about how my love of taking
care of people developed due to a mentor (dad) and Calai interpreted it as
being nervous (thankfully I guess) and she called me out. Calai asked, “are you
nervous” I replied yes then I paused, took a big breath and resumed a little less shaky (and less choked up). After that question they
asked probably 4 more questions and then it was just a conversation talking
about the job, talking about Dad/Diana and just shooting the breeze. I am
pretty sure I didn’t answer the first question like at all because they
followed that question with a very similar question to get an actual answer. The interview is a blur and I couldn't tell you what they asked or how I answered but it must have gone decently well because I got the job!!
