October 20, 2012 ~ Taralyn's Bridal Shower
Its crazy, Taralyn is getting married!! I am so happy for her! She had a bridal shower at Aunt Catherine's house and it was really fun! The decorations were so cute and the food was delicious. I wish I would have taken more pictures though. We played a game where you had lips and a mustache on a stick. The object of the game is to try and guess who said what answer. If we thought it was Taralyn's answer, we would put up lips. If we thought that was Jordan's answer to the question we would put up a mustache. It was a really cute and fun game.

October 23, 2012 ~ St. George for Grandpa
October 23, 2012 ~ St. George for Grandpa
Grandpa Hafen that lives in St. George is sick and will most likely be passing soon and so we all went up to St. George to see him. It was nice that Lucas and I were both able to get work off because it was the middle of the week. We went up to see him in the middle of the week because Sally didn't know how much longer he would hold on and we wanted to see him before he got too sick to talk. It is quite amazing though, he was golfing up until about 3 months ago and he has been totally independent and taking care of himself up until about a week ago. He has just gone down hill quick, a couple of his organs are shutting down. But I guess in reality that is the best way to go, independent and doing what you want and then only being bed ridden for a couple of days before passing. It was a nice trip though. At first it looked like it was going to be a very sad trip because when we first saw him he wasn't really responding to us and he was in bed. But then mid-afternoon he just woke up or something because he was in his wheel-chair outside with us and directing us how to pick pomegranates. Picking pomegranates is some hard work, I am surprised he has done it every single year until this year. I am glad we were able to visit with him and talk with him. It was really special to be there with him and spend his last few days all together. It was like he was just holding on and waiting until he could say good bye to everyone and spend a little bit of time with them before he decided to pass.
"Grandpa, you were an amazing person and we are so thankful that you have been in our lives. Your memory will live on in our hearts, and as for me, in your golf clubs. We love you Grandpa." -Lucas

October 2012 ~ Acceptance!!
October 2012 ~ Acceptance!!
I got accepted to the Part-time nursing program at Nevada State College!! I applied for the part-time program so I would be able to have time to work while going to school. I was so relieved to open the letter and see that I was accepted because I got a letter from CSN a week or two before and it stated I was on a waiting list. I will be starting nursing school the Spring semester, January 2013.
October 6, 2012 ~ Improv-A-Ganza
October 6, 2012 ~ Improv-A-Ganza
It is just crazy Lucas was able to get tickets for Drew Carey's Imrprov-A-Ganza! We wanted to get tickets to his show a while back but found out that they only did the show one weekend every other month because all of the people in the show live out of state! He was able to get free tickets and I was so excited! Before we saw his show live we were watching this show on TV because they would show tid-bits of the live show in Vegas on TV. The show started with Drew Carey doing a solo stand-up comedy act and it was disappointing. He was practically swearing every other word and we were about to walk out, but then the actual show started. The show was hilarious and there was no vulgar language, unlike his stand-up act.
August 26, 2012 ~ Brandon Flowers Fireside
August 26, 2012 ~ Brandon Flowers Fireside
Dad was in charge of a multi-stake youth conference and he was required to find a speaker. He asked Brandon Flowers from the Killers and Mayor Gibson!! Both speakers are patients of dads and I have met them both and they are the nicest people. It was awesome that Brandon Flowers was willing to speak at a fireside for my dad. But then again, dad did ask Brandon Flowers if he could speak right before he went under sedation for a surgery, so maybe he wasn't in his right mind when he said yes. But the fireside was a success! Brother Swainston and a bunch of singles ward people were usher's and body guards for Brandon Flowers. Brandon's one request was no pictures or videos of him. The ushers and body guards did a good job at making sure that didn't happen. Brother Swainston had ear pieces and everything! Practically the whole Henderson amphitheater off of Green Valley and Paseo Verde was full. I thought he was going to sing one of his songs but he ended up playing a recording of it but it was still cool. Brandon Flowers also has a Mormon message video and we showed that before he spoke. It was a good way to introduce him and get everyone excited. Mayor Gibson was a perfect end speaker because he tied everything together beautifully. Oh, and Brandon Flowers cute wife spoke too. We got front row seats and we got VIP backstage access to meet the man himself after the fireside.
Ps. Not the best quality pictures because it was dark behind stage but I hope you can still see our faces and get the general idea.
September 22, 2012 ~ Boating & Bryce's Open House
The one thing Bryce wanted to do before the open house was go wake boarding, so dad rented a boat and we did! We also drove the boat to the Hoover dam and had a beautiful view of the dam. Bryce got to wakeboard just like he wanted but the water was kind of choppy and not very good. But it was just fun to be with everyone and hangout with everyone. We went boating till about 3pm then got all cleaned up and ready for the open house.
I just had to post this picture because of Eliana's face, she is a hoot!
August 24 & 25, 2012 ~ Garage Sale!
August 24 & 25, 2012 ~ Garage Sale!
I have always wanted to have a garage sale so my mom and I decided to go in on it together. She let me sell her stuff and let me keep the money we earned. At first I thought it would be easy money, but it was a lot more work than I thought!! It was really fun, but in the end, it was more work than it was worth.
