November 1, 2014 ~ Shopping with Lucas

November 1, 2014 ~ Shopping with Lucas

Lucas rolled his ankle a couple of days ago and it was a bad one. I tried to convince him to let me cast it so his ankle wouldn't become sloppy and chronically unstable but he wouldn't listen. We got a boot from my parents but after taking it home I realized it was the boot that I used when I broke my ankle and there was no way it would fit Lucas. But anyway, I needed some things from the store and I wanted him to come with me because it would be SO much more fun. After discussing it we decided the only way he could come was if he was riding a motorized scooter from Walmart. So we put the boot on him, even though it didn't fit right and went to Walmart.

October 18, 2014 ~ Pumpkin Patch Group Date

October 18, 2014 ~ Pumpkin Patch Group Date

There are a lot of young, fun girls that work at the doctors office with me so we decided to do a big group date! Bailey and he finance were invited but they couldn't make it but it was Sarah (from billing), Taralyn, Brooke and I and our husbands. Taralyn planned the whole thing and invited everyone. We went to a pumpkin patch off of Stephanie right by Winco. At the pumpkin patch we got tickets to go to inside the petting zoo and then Taralyn shared a ticket with me so we could go on a ride together. We were pretty dizzy after the ride but it was still a blast! Brooke and her husband also did an obstacle course and raced! Before leaving the pumpkin patch Taralyn said that she always likes to find the biggest pumpkin and try to pick it up for a picture! After realizing that neither Taralyn or I could pick it up we decided we needed help from our handsome husbands. With the help of our husbands we were able to pick up the pumpkin and get a picture with it! After the pumpkin patch we went next door to Winco to buy some (much cheaper and bigger) pumpkins. After getting our pumpkins we all went back to Taralyn's house for dessert and pumpkin carving. Taralyn has a really cool back porch that they decorated with lights and it was perfect weather outside. It was a really fun night filled with getting to know coworkers better, fun activities, delicious desserts and of course slimy pumpkin guts!

Lucas and I, Taralyn & Jordan, Sarah & husband, Brooke & husband

 All the girls!

Lucas "helping" me pick up the pumpkin. He really was just shaking me and telling me not to drop it.

After getting back to the house we realized it's kind of hard for 2 people to carve 1 pumpkin, so I got all of the pumpkin guts out, we decided on a design together and then Lucas carved the pumpkin!

September 17, 2014 ~ Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

September 17, 2014 ~ Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

Lucas is now selling tours as a concierge at Vdara and so he now gets to go on tours for free! I was lucky enough to be invited to go on a tour of a lifetime for FREE! A Helicopter tour of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon! We went to the Henderson Executive Airport off of St. Rose at 7:30am and we went to the Maverick terminal to await our flight to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
At first Lucas and I weren't sitting together, which is fine since its free, but then a person didn't show and so we got to sit together! The airplane was a small, really small airplane that we walked onto from the runway and seated 20 people plus the captains. Lucas and I didn't have windows, which was fine since it was free. Not having a window ended up being a good thing though because the captains were really cool and let us hangout in the cock-pit with them so we could see the great view. The captains were Cameron and Mike.
Once at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon we went to the Bright Angle Lodge and toured the grand canyon on our own for an hour. They gave us pre-made lunches that consisted of a turkey sand-which, chips, a cookie and a drink. It was a pretty good lunch and it was even better because it was free! It was a beautiful view and it was relaxing just sitting on the wall and looking out, knowing that there was nothing that I had to worry about or rush off to.
After being at the Bright Angle Lodge for an hour we went on the Helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. Lucas has been in a helicopter once before, when he went on a free tour of the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. I have never been in a helicopter, it was the coolest thing ever! I loved having the headsets to talk to each other and I was lucky enough to get a window seat and sit by my handsome husband! The view was breath taking and the whole concept of a helicopter is fascinating. When the wind would blow hard we could feel the helicopter drift and it was fun. It was a once in a lifetime experience, especially because it was free. The helicopter tour was 30 minutes, a good amount of time but it went by really quick.
After the helicopter tour we went back on the airplane to head back to Vegas. Lucas and I actually ended up passing out and sleeping on the ride home because we were tired from waking up early and from all of the adventures of the day.
At the end of the day we topped it all off with some amazing dessert from Rita's. The tour was a nice break from studying for nursing school and Lucas had been out of town the last week so it was really nice being able to spend the whole day with him.

September 11-16, 2014 ~ Paige's Wedding in Canada

September 11-16, 2014 ~ Paige's Wedding in Canada

Friday the 12th-
Spent about an hour at grandparents. Hung out with them just talking and enjoying each other's company. Grandpa and grandma were entertaining as usual. Went to Danny and Janes for the rest of the night. Sam, danny, Luke and Anton played pool together. It was the old brothers verse the young brothers. The old brothers won the first game but the second they were battling out the 8 ball, and the old ones squeaked by with another win.

Saturday the 13th-
Wake up and were all going to the bluejay game. Game was at 1. Sam, Tyler and myself rode in our rental car and then Sam, Danny and David were in the other car. We get to the park and I grab a juicy, delicious sausage before going in. We bought some tickets from a scalper in the noise bleeds. But as soon as we got into the park, we just went straight towards the lower deck seats and watched the game from there. Tons of open seats and we were on 3rd baseline near the left fielder. Great seats for only $14. Has a blast at the game. Everyone caught up, enjoyed each other's company and what made it better, we won 6-3 vs the Rays. Since I had to take the car back to buffalo separately, only my name was on the contract. Therefore, only I could legally drive. My dad came with us home and he is the worst back seat driver..ever. "Turn here!" " slow down!" " you're taking this corner to hard!"..it just went on and on. Man oh man. We finally managed to get home.
Everyone came over to Danny's for a BBQ. We all ate (Tyler, David, Kyle, his GF Melissa, Sam, Daryl, and parents). Tyler, Sam and I played pool for a bit..I won a little, Sam won the majority. Then we had burgers, sausage, salad..so very good!!
Danny started a huge bonfire in the back yard, so all of us sat around talking and having a blast. I had so much fun with everyone. Everyone is hilarious and nice to be around. The weather was chilly (55) which made it perfect for a bonfire. We were out there for a couple of hours..everyone went home around midnight.

Normal conversation with Dad and Grandma:
Dad: what's for dinner?
Grandma: whats it matter to you? Why you sticking your big noise around here?

Sunday the 14th-
Sunday morning we woke up and we got dressed for church. Before taking Sam to the airport, we wanted to go to church, it being Sunday. The closest church was in Burlington, which was nice because that was the church that Dad got baptized in many years ago. There were quite a bit of members there. Not enough to open up the over flow but there was still well attended.
After church we had to take Sam to the airport because he had a big job interview in NYC with Jetblue. He was applying for a job with their videography department. It was a couple hour drive to the boarder of Canada and buffalo. We all decided to go and take Sam back to the airport. I conversation turned towards the gospel, as usual. Mom gave a great lesson/blog she read about Hosea and Joel. It was great insight about how important covenants are with God. We had a great conversation together and really enjoyed each other's company. Upon arriving to Buffalo, we stopped by Subway to grab a quick bite and then sent Sam on his way.
Paige's wedding ceremony was at a beautiful park off of the Lake. The location was right on the way from Milton and Buffalo, which worked out perfectly. We timed it so we could drop sam off at the airport and drive to the ceremony just in time for the wedding at 3:00pm. The ceremony was put on very nicely. The minister that married him was a little bit too rambunctious than what we would have preferred but the bride and groom seemed to really enjoy jokes and the atmosphere, which is most important. It was a fairly quick ceremony, but very nice. After they said their "I do's" , we drove a half a mile to the dining lodge area where the reception was being held, right off the lake shore.
The reception was very nice. They had a lot of food and drinks for all of the guests. It was fun just visiting with all of the cousins, aunts and uncles that we haven't seen in a while. After all of the toasts and food, there was a little bit of dancing. Mom and Luke were able to have a slow dance together. After the dancing, we all headed home at around 10:30pm.

Monday the 15th-
Upon waking in the morning, we had breakfast at Danny's place and then Dad, Mom and I all headed over back to Grandpa's to spend a little bit more time there because it was our last day before leaving. After spending an hour or so visiting with the Grandparents, we got a phone call from Kyle inviting all of us to go hit a round of golf at the golf course that he works at. So, Dad, Mom, Kyle and I all went golfing together. We took two separate carts, so mom and dad rode together then Kyle and I rode together. It was actually a lot of fun! I haven't golfed in a few years and I didn't think I would do very well, but I actually held my own. I came in second between us three. I felt pretty proud of myself considering I have only golfed 3 or 4 times in my life. Unfortunately on about the 6th hold, it started raining real hard, so we called it a day. That was okay with us because we golfed for free and it was fun just to get out a little bit.

Then we returned to the Grandparents home and stayed there up until dinner. Grandma made her famous soup and apple sauce. Toni, Tyler and Kyle joined us for dinner which made for a great dinner. After dinner, we planned for all of the cousins to go out bowling together to celebrate my last night there. It was Tyler, Toni, Kyle, Brandon and his girlfriend. It was the first time all of us cousins have just hung out together. I really enjoyed it. We didn't play serious at all. We all took turns throwing it different ways down the alley (behind the back, through the legs, eyes closed, etc.) and then everyone else would have to follow suit. After bowling, we played a few games at the arcade that they have there. It was sad saying good bye to all of them because I get along so well with them. It is too bad that they live so far away and I am not able to build a really good relationship with them. After bowling, Kyle took me back to Danny's and we turned in for the night.
